A marking device, actuated pneumatically or by a plasma-type process, can be added to any of the station configurations or established as a separate station. The plate to be cut can be either punchmarked or scribed with a pattern layout at higher speed and with greater accuracy by use of the marker compared to manual methods.
The water spray attachment may be included as an accessory item on both plasma and gas cutting stations. A very fine mist is directed to the cutting area of the plate to minimize distortion on thin plate and generation of dust. Very little residual water is present with proper control of the mist.
Essentially the Contour Bevel Unit performs the same function of preparing plate edges for welding. However, the contour beveling system is much more complex in that an automatic rotation system is used to allow beveling of curved shapes and straight lines at angular directions as well as longitudinal and transverse directions. The rotation system is designed to maintain the lateral torch plane perpendicular to the direction of travel.
Because of variations in plate surfaces and warpage which may be incurred during a cutting operation a means of maintaining a constant distance between the torch nozzle and the plate is necessary to produce a consistent high quality cut. There are two systems of automatically controlling the torch height. A capacitive sensing system is used with gas cutting stations and a combination capacitive-voltage sensing system for use with plasma-arc stations. An AHC switch on the operator's control panel activated the automatic height control system.
The Status Light Stack, located atop the I/O enclosure provides highly visible machine status indications throughout the shop area housing the G14. The RED, YELLOW, and GREEN lamps have the following meanings. RED: indicates a limit switch, a torch crash sensor, or some other safety device has halted machine motion and requires immediate attention from the operator. YELLOW: indicates machine is in motion or is preparing to move, an automatic cut cycle is in progress, or any other change or impending change of conditions warrants caution or attention from the operator. GREEN: indicates the machine is powered up and ready for operation with all conditions normal or cycle has completed and machine is ready for restart.
